This very elegant and handsome, 7-story, mid-block apartment building at 540 West 49th Street between Ninth and Tenth Avenues extends through the block to 48th Street with a large central courtyard.

The building, which is known as 540West, was erected in 2015 by Fortis Property Group and Wonder Works Construction Corporation      and designed by S9, an affiliate of Perkins Eastman Architects.

Interiors are by the Meshberg Group.

It has 110 condominium apartments.


 

Bottom Line

A very modern glass-and-steel building with very large and handsome layouts and an attractive courtyard and breezeway connecting its two buildings.


 

Description

The building has a very elegant glass façade with an entrance marquee that leads to a six-step-down lobby and an open-air breezeway across its large courtyard to its second building on 48th Street.

The landscaped roof deck features retractable area dividers and a cooking grill.


 

Amenities

The project has a 24-hour doorman, a lobby with a fireplace, a fitness center, two landscaped roof decks, a landscaped courtyard with lounging/dining area, a reflecting pool and an open-air movie-viewing area, bicycle storage, personal storage and a pet spa.

Apartments have white oak floors, laundry closet with washer/dryer hook-up, central heating and cooling, terraces.

Kitchen have under cabinet lighting, Silverstone quartzite countertops and backsplashes, 24-inch Liebherr refrigerators, Bertazzoni 24-inche gas cooktop and oven in stainless steel and penthouses have larger refrigerators, gas cooktops and ovens and Liebherr wine coolers.

The Penthouse in the North Tower is a two-bedroom unit with a24-foot-long living/dining area with a 19-foot-long open kitchen with an island in front of the staircase to a 19-foot-wide roof terrace.

Apartment 6 in the North Tower is a two-bedroom unit with a 22-foot-long living/dining area and a pass-through 8-foot-wide kitchen.

Apartment CY6N is a two-bedroom unit in the North Tower with a 21-foot-long living/dining room with an 8-foot-wide pass-through kitchen and a 336-foot-long terrace adjoining the building’s courtyard.

Apartment 8 in the South Tower is a one-bedroom duplex unit with a 24-foot-long, living/dining room with a double-height ceiling and a 13-foot-long open kitchen and a floor on the first floor and a 15-foot-long bedroom on the second floor.
