Review of 572 Eleventh Avenue by Carter Horsley

This 13-story apartment building at 572 Eleventh Avenue between 43rd and 44th Streets in Hell's Kitchen was erected in 2018 and has 163 rental apartments of which 46 are "affordable" and about 10,000 square feet of retail space. 

The building is called Oskar and is named after Oskar Brecher, a worker at Moinian who oversaw the firm's development portfolio and died in 2016. 

It was erected by the Moinian Group, which erected the large Sky apartment building at 605 West 42nd Street, and designed by CetraRuddy. 

It is on the former site of the Market Diner.

Bottom Line

A mid-rise rental building fronting on 11th Avenue in Hell's Kitchen with many amenities and curved setbacks in the shadows of the tall towers of Far West 42nd Street.

Description

The building has an entrance marquee and a second floor garden terrace. 

The second through the seventh floors are divided into two three-story sections with slightly inset windows and some corner windows. 

The upper floors have a broader fenestration pattern. 

The eighth floor has curved corner windows.  

The ninth floor is partially setback with a terrace and curved corner windows. 

The tenth through the twelvth floors are progressively setback with curved corner windows. 

Amenities

The smoke-free building has a 24-hour attended lobby, a doorman, a landscaped roof deck with sculpted lawn designed by HMWhite, sculpture garden courtyard with skylit reflecting pool and sculpture by Arik Levy, corridor art works by Phillip Michaels, a fitness center with Peloton and Technogym equipment, a business center, bicycle storage, a package room, a valet, a media room,  a laundry and a resident manager.  It permits pets.

Apartments have Bosch kitchen appliances and Bosch washers and dryers, Caesarstone kitchen counters, keyless smart locks, Nest thermostats, pale taupe oak wood floors, pendant lighting, and under-kitchen cabinet LED lighting. 

Apartment 7P is a one-bedroom unit with a 16-foot-long entrance gallery that leads to a 12-foot-dining room with an open and windowed corner kitchen that flows through to a 16-foot-long living room with a slightly angled corner window and another slightly angled window. 

Apartment 7B is a one-bedroom unit  with a 14-foot-wide dining room with an open kitchen that opens to a 15-foot-wide living room with a balcony. 

Apartment 7N is a one-bedroom unit with a 13-foot-long dining room with an open kitchen and a 13-foot-long living room with an slightly angled window. 

Apartment 9C is a studio unit with an entry foyer that leads to a 16-foot-long dining room with an open kitchen and a 16-foot-long living room with a slightly angled window.
