The Sorting House is a 30-unit residential condominium development that was scheduled for completion in 2017 at 318 West 52^nd Street that incorporates the three-story U. S. Postal Service Radio City Station facility at the location. 

The developers, the Cadence Property Group, converted the red-brick building’s top floor and added two floors for the apartments.  The post office remains in the bottom two floors.

The project’s name references one of the major functions of a post office.

The Architecture Outfit, which is headed by Thaddeus Briner, is the architect for the project.

Bottom Line

A modest but handsome redevelopment in which most residential units have terraces or roof patios in a surprisingly charming section of East Midtown.

The building has a 2,600-square-foot, landscaped roof deck with an outdoor kitchen with grill and sink, a fitness room, a part-time doorman and virtual concierge, bicycle and private storage and Paddle8, an online auction house that provides art advisory service for the building’s residents.

Penthouse D is a three-bedroom unit with an entry foyer that leads to a 12-foot-wide dining room with an open kitchen with an island and to the 24-foot-long great room.  The unit has stairs to a 21-foot-long roof patio.

Apartment 4H is a three-bedroom unit with a 26-foot-wide great room with a 12-foot-wide dining room and kitchen with an island and a 22-foot-wide roof patio.

Apartment 4L is a three-bedroom unit with a small entry foyer that leads to a 22-foot-square great room with an open kitchen with an island and a 46-foot-long, narrow terrace.

Apartment 3H is a two-bedroom unit with an entry foyer that leads in one direction to a 10-foot-wide office/den and in the other past an open, pass-through kitchen to a 28-foot-long great room and a stair to the 20-foot-long roof patio.

Apartment 4B is a two-bedroom duplex with an entry foyer that leads to a 22-foot-wide great room with an open kitchen with an island and a 26-foot-long terrace.  There are two bedrooms on the upper level.

Apartment 3C is a studio unit with an entry that leads past a 12-foot-long office/den to a 26-foot-long great room with an open, pass-through kitchen.
