This large, beige-brick apartment building at 240 East 27th Street across from the New York University Medical Center on Second Avenue was erected in 1977.  The 26-story building has 325 rental apartments. 

It was designed by Philip Birnbaum & Associates. 

It is also known as 239-243 East 26th Street and 463-479 Second Avenue. 

Bottom Line

Large apartment building with good-sized units and an attractive plaza with water element designed by Lawrence Halpern and handsome entrance with marquee and sidewalk landscaping.

Description

The building has a white-marble entrance surround with an entrance marquee, building sconces and sidewalk landscaping. 

It has discrete air-conditioners.

Amenities

The building has a full-time doorman, a gym, a package room, a laundry in the basement and an 8-step-up plaza with a water element designed by Lawrence Halpern.  It permits pets.
