3 East 66th Street: Review and Ratings
between Fifth Avenue & Madison Avenue View Full Building Profile
This handsome, Art Deco-style mid-block building was erected in 1933 and contains 30 rental apartments.
It occupies the former site of the home of Ulysses S. Grant, the 18th President of the United States. Grant lived on the site from 1881 until about a year before his death in 1885.
The 10-story building is just to the west of the very ornate and impressive Lotus Club building.
This building has a beige brick façade above a two-story limestone base with rounded piers. It has consistent multipaned fenestration, very attractive Art Deco entrance doors, and a one-step-up entrance. It has no doorman, no concierge, no sidewalk landscaping, no health club and no garage and permits protruding air-conditioners.
It is across the street from the Skirball Center for Adult Jewish Education of Temple Emanuel, which is located on Fifth Avenue and 65th Street.
There is considerable traffic on this street which is an entrance to a Central Park transverse road.
This Upper East Side neighborhood has excellent bus service and is convenient to many boutiques, art galleries and restaurants.
