This slim and handsome apartment building at 39 Plaza Street West in Park Slope near the Grand Army Plaza entrance to Prospect Park in Brooklyn was built in 1927 and designed by Rosario Candela, the city's most famous architect of luxury pre-war apartment buildings. 

The 14-story building has 40 co-operative apartments. 

The building is convenient to subways.

Bottom Line

A  handsome, mid-rise apartment tower designed by Rosario Candela overlooking Grand Army Plaza at the entrance to Prospect Park in Brooklyn.

Description

The brown-brick building has a two-story limestone base with an canopied entrance surround flanked by sconces and sidewalk landscaping. 

The third-floor windows have lunette stone tops and the 13th floor windows have elaborate window surrounds. 

The building has a cornice. 

The building has a very handsome curved lobby with arched openings.

Amenities

The building has a full-time doorman, a live-in superintendent, storage, a laundry room and is pet friendly.

Apartments

Apartment 10AB is a five-bedroom unit with an 11-foot-long entry foyer that leads to a 23-foot-long living room that is next to a 16-foot-long dining room that is adjacent to a 12-foot-long, windowed kitchen.  The foyer also leads to a 17-foot-long family room and one of the bedrooms has an angled wall. 

Apartment 3A is a two-bedroom unit with an 11-foot-long entry foyer that leads to a 24-foot-long living room that is next to a 16-foot-long dining room that is adjacent to a 14-foot-wide, windowed kitchen with a breakfast bar.  The bathrooms are angled. 

Apartment 8C is a two-bedroom unit with a 10-foot-long entry foyer that leads to a 20-foot-long living/dining room next to an enclosed and windowed, 15-foot-long, eat-in kitchen. 

Apartment 11B is a one-bedroom unit with a small entry foyer that has leads angularly to a 17-foot-long living room and a 14-foot-long, eat-in kitchen.  The bedroom is angled.
