This handsome, beige-brick apartment house at 160 Riverside Drive on the northeast corner at 88th Street was erected as a cooperative in 1929.

The 16-story building has 70 apartments.

It was designed by Gaetan Ajello.

Bottom Line

A pleasant, pre-war building designed by Gaetan Ajello with a 24-hour doorman.


 

Description

The building, which has several decorative balconies, is distinguished by its unusual shape, created by an angled corner at 88th Street which has one window per floor looking to the southwest, and by the presence of arched windows on its seventh and top floors.


 

Amenities

The building has a 24-hour doorman, storage and a bicycle room.  It has no roof deck and no sidewalk landscaping. It is pet friendly.


 

Apartments

Most of the apartments have stunning vistas of the Hudson River and Riverside Park.

Apartment 11B is a two-bedroom unit with a 51-foot-long entrance gallery that opens onto a 24-foot-long living/dining room that leads to an 11-foot-long den and a pass-through, 12-foot-wide eat-in kitchen and an 8-foot-wide pantry.  The unit also has a 13-foot-long home office.

Apartment 11A is a three-bedroom unit with a 15-foot-long entry foyer that opens onto a 27-foot-long living/dining room across from a 16-foot-long chef’s kitchen with a 9-foot-long breakfast room and a 12-foot-long staff room.

Apartment 4C is a two-bedroom unit that has a 10-foot-wide entry foyer that leads to a 8-foot-long living room that opens onto a16-foot-wide, six-sided dining room neat to a 17-foot-long eat-in kitchen.

Apartment 5E is a two-bedroom unit that has a 23-foot-long entry foyer that leads to an 18-foot-long living room that opens onto a 9-foot-long dining room.  The apartment has a 15-foot-long eat-in kitchen.

Apartment 3C is a two-bedroom unit that has a 20-foot-long entry foyer that leads in one direction to a 26-foot-long, five-sided living room and in her other to a 14-foot-long dining room next to an 11-foot long kitchen.
