This handsome, red-brick apartment building at 915 West End Avenue on the southwest corner of 105th Street was erected by Joseph Paterno in 1922 and designed by Rosario Candela, one of the foremost architects in the city of pre-World War II luxury apartment buildings.  It has 94 condominium apartments. 

It was converted in 2015 by Lichter Real Estate and Millhouse Peck Properties and Arpad Baksa was the architect in charge of the conversion.

The building is in the Riverside-West End Historic District Extension II that was created in 2015.

Bottom Line

This sedate but dignified, red-brick apartment house is typical of the elegant, pre-war style of Rosario Candela, its architect.

Description

This 15-story building has an attractive, two-story, arched, limestone entrance surround and terracotta surrounds on its ground floor and 14th floor windows.

There are bandcourses above the third and 14th floors.

There are some window surrounds with balustraded balconies on the 8th floor and more balustraded balconies on the 14th floor.

The building has an attractive and large dentillated cornice and a lightcourt on the side-street.

The building permits window air-conditioners.

The building has a cartouche with the original developer’s initials above the entrance.

The building has a doorman, a roof deck, an attended lobby and a laundry room.  It allows pets.

Apartments

Apartment 901 is a three-bedroom unit with a long entry foyer that leads to a large living/dining room with an open kitchen.

Apartment 902 is a two-bedroom unit with an entry foyer that leads to a large living/dining room with an open kitchen.

Apartment 904 is a one-bedroom unit with a living/dining room with a short angled wall and an open kitchen.
