Review of 147 Beach 116th Street by Carter Horsley

For many New Yorkers, the choice between city living and a place at the beach is strictly either-or. The Marcal Group, developers of this Rockaway Park condo-by-the-sea, offer its 86 apartments in an eight-story main building and eight adjoining duplex townhouses for those who wish to “live a life combining both city and sea on a daily basis." One-, two-, and three-bedroom residences have designer interiors featuring nine-foot ceilings, neutral palettes, white oak floors and in-unit washer/dryers, with high-quality fixtures and finishes in kitchens and baths. Some units have private balconies for sunset viewing. Amenities include a landscaped roof deck (with ocean and bay views), fitness center, lounge, bike room, on-site parking and storage. The surrounding neighborhood isn’t your usual New York City mix: You’re half a block from the boardwalk and the beach. It’s still New York City, though, when it comes to flavor and fun. It’s a quick trip to Jacob Riis Park with its food-packed Beach Bazaar. Much closer to home, Cuisine by Claudette is a local favorite. The nearby A express and Shuttle subways and ferry allow for easy connections to Manhattan and beyond.
