Riverwalk Crossing is an attractive, 16-story rental apartment building just to the north of the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge on Roosevelt Island.

It was built by the Hudson Company in 2008 and has 242 units.

It was designed by Costas Kondylis & Partners LLP for the Hudson Companies Inc., and the Related Companies as part of their 9-building Riverwalk project on Roosevelt Island of which this was the sixth building to be completed.

Bottom Line

As the closest building on Roosevelt Island to the tram that connects it to Manhattan, this building offers great convenience and spectacular views of the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge and midtown.

Description

The red-and-yellow-brick building has two red-brick angled 8-story wings.

Amenities

The smoke-free building has a concierge and a doorman, a gym, a swimming pool, a bicycle room, a laundry, storage, a garden, a roof deck and community recreational facilities.

The building is pet-friendly.

Apartments

Apartment 10P is a two-bedroom unit with a 20-foot-long living/dining room with an open kitchen and an angled wall that opens onto a 27-foot-long, angled terrace.

Apartment 11P is a two-bedroom unit with a 20-foot-long living room with pass-through kitchen and a 9-foot-long dining room by the entry foyer.

A one-bedroom unit has an entry foyer that leads to a 20-foot-long, angled living room that opens onto a 10-foot-long dining room with an open kitchen.  

Another one-bedroom unit has an entry foyer that leads to an angled, 20-foot-long, living/dining room with an open kitchen.

History

The first buildings in this development was the 256 unit, 475 Main Street and the 136-unit 465 Main Street that are both staff housing for the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

They were both erected in 2003.

The third building was Riverwalk Place, the 218-unit, market-rate condominium at 455 Main Street that was built in 2006 and 88 units were sold to the Weill Cornell Medical College.

The fourth building was Riverwalk Landing, the 230-unit, market-rate condominium at 425 Main Street that included 96 units for the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and 48 units for New York University.  It was completed in 2007.

The first four buildings were designed by Gruzen Samton Architects with SLCE Architects.

The fifth building was Riverwalk Court, the 123-unit market-rate condominium at 415 Main Street that was completed in 2008 and was designed by Costas Kondylis & Partners LLP.

A seventh building, Riverwalk 7, is a 266-unit, rental building at 480 Main Street that is expected to be completed in 2015 and has been designed by Handel Architects LLP.
