This 30-story apartment tower at 1536 Sheepshead Bay Road in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, has 180 rental apartments on its lowest floors and 56 condominium apartments on its highest 11 floors.

The building, which also has a 1501 Voorhies Avenue address, was developed by Avalon Bay Communities and Muss Development and completed in 2017. The condo section of the building is known as 1 Brooklyn Bay and the rental section as Avalon Brooklyn Bay.

Perkins Eastman is the Architect.

There is a pedestrian bridge to nearby Manhattan Beach and the B and Q subway lines are also nearby.

A ny.curbed.com article from May 18, 2017 reported that a different developer had previously proposed a 22-story condo building for the site, but was abandoned after a backlash from local residents.

Bottom Line

The sparkling tower is the tallest in Sheepshead Bay.

Description

The reflective-glass tower has a very dramatic base with a large section of the second floor recessed over the entrance, which has a revolving door and a large curved marquee.

Amenities

The smoke-free development will have an outdoor swimming pool, a bocce court, a dog run and barbecue pits, a 2,500-square-foot fitness center, a garage, a 19th floor Sky Lounge and a fully attended lobby.

Apartments

The condominium apartments will have 11-foot ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, washers and dryers and kitchen appliances include Sub-Zero refrigerators and Energy Star stainless steel appliances.

Apartment A on the 23rd through the 27th floors is a three-bedroom unit with 1,375 square feet of interior space and 93 square feet of outdoor space with a 7-foot-long entry foyer that leads to an 18-foot-wide living room with a 15-foot-wide balcony and an 11-foot-long open kitchen with an island.

Apartment 21C is a 2-bedroom unit with 1,229 square feet of interior space and 104 square feet of outdoor space with an entry next to the 12-foot-wide kitchen with a breakfast bar and a 17-foot-wide living/dining room with a 15-foot-wide balcony.

Apartment B on the 23rd through the 27th floors is a 2-bedroom unit with 1,093 square feet of space and 104 square feet of outdoor space with a 5-foot-wide entry foyer that leads past a 10-foot-wide kitchen with a breakfast bar to a 14-foot-wide living room with a 17-foot-wide balcony.
