The Franklin Building, located at 9-15 Murray Street, is a former 12-story office building that has been converted into 25 condominium apartments.

It is half a block from City Hall Park and not far from The World Trade Center.

Constructed in 1897, it was once a thriving manufacturing warehouse recognized for its state-of-the-art electrical switchboard. 

Bottom Line

This mid-block TriBeCa residential building has a very distinguished three-story stone base with nice detailing with three canopies beneath six floors of rusticated beige-brick façade and a cornice beneath its top floor.

 

Description

The 9th floor has some arched windows and the center section of the façade has fire-escapes.

In 1989,  the New Amsterdam branch of The New York Public Library opened with an arched entrance at the east end of its ground floor space and there is another arched doorway at the west end.

There is a large bandcourse above the second floor.

The building has an exposed roof-top watertank, two passenger elevators and a freight elevator.

The street has no trees.

Amenities

The building has a planted roof deck and is pet friendly.

Apartments

Apartments have tall ceilings and include central air conditioning and are pre-wired for phone and cable TV.

Kitchens include Siematic cabinets, granite countertops, stainless steel undermount double sinks, high-end GE appliances and garbage disposals.

Bathrooms include ceramic tile floors and wall tile along with custom vanities with Corian top. The glass-enclosed shower has a Speakerman showerhead.

Apartment 8W is a three-bedroom unit that has a 36-foot-long living/dining room with an open 17-foot-wide kitchen with an island across from a 21-foot-long den.

Apartment 11NE is a two-bedroom unit that has an 11-foot-wide entry foyer that leads to a 30-foot-long living/dining room with a 12-foot-wide open kitchen with an island.
