Carter's Review

This 13-story rental apartment building at 420 East 80th Street is distinguished by its striking stainless steel entrance marquee that has large angled pipe supports and a geometric patterned underside that repeats the patterns on the lobby's floor.

The three-step-down entrance is flanked by curved landscape containers that extend the length of the building, which has 156 apartments.

The post-war, cream-colored brick building, which is known as London House, has discrete air-conditioners, a doorman, and a garage. It is pet-friendly.

It has a handsome and bright lobby.

The building is to the east of the very fine and colorful plaza at Gracie Mews on the northeast corner of First Avenue at 401 East 80th Street.

Cross-town buses run on 79th Street and Carl Schurz Park is at East End Avenue and 84th Street.
