The Manhasset - 300 West 109th Street: CARTER'S REVIEW

This handsome, red-brick, 11-story cooperative apartment building was designed as an 8-story building with a cornice in 1899 by Joseph Wolf and two years later was enlarged three stories with a mansard roof designed by Janes & Leo.

The building has 10-foot-high ceilings, base moldings, window well moldings, arched entryways and bay windows. Many of the larger apartments have washer-dryers. The building was restored in 2001 with a new elevator and an impressive large lobby and a video intercom system.

It is one block east of Riverside Park and one block south of a subway station. Columbia University is several blocks to the north on Broadway and the Episcopal Cathedral of St. John the Divine is also nearby.
