1055 Park Avenue: Review and Ratings

between East 86th Street & East 87th Street View Full Building Profile

Carter Horsley
Review of 1055 Park Avenue by Carter Horsley

The only glass-clad residential building on Park Avenue, 1055 Park Avenue on the southeast corner at 87th Street was erected by Trevor Davis and completed in 2011.

The 12-story building contains 6 units.

It was designed by H. Thomas O’Hara and its interiors were designed by Cetra/Ruddy.

Bottom Line

With a prime Carnegie Hill location on a lushly landscaped street, this narrow glass-clad tower makes no effort to have a contextual masonry façade but it offers convenience, very good public transportation, good shopping and many religious and educational institutions.

Description

The minimalist glass-clad residential slab conforms to its neighbor’s cornice line and offers only a few apartments with floor-to-ceiling windows.

Its lobby is visible from the street and has pear wood walls and crème-colored marble floors.

Amenities

The building has a concierge, an elevator and a fitness center.

Apartments

Kitchens have white Poggenpohl glossy cabinetry, Miele stainless-steel appliances, Corian countertops and Sub-Zero wine cooler.

Bathrooms have a rain shower and Bianco glossy Varrenes vanities with marble sinks.

The penthouse has an entry foyer that leads to a 23-foot-long living room facing Park Avenue, a long gallery and a dining space and open kitchen that is 17-foot-wide on the main level and a 17-foot-long master suite facing Park Avenue and a smaller bedroom on the upper level and a 20-foot-long terrace on the room.

A triplex on the 8th through the tenth floors has a 22-foot-long living/dining room, a large foyer, a 16-foot-long kitchen that opens onto a 26-foot-long terrace on the first level, two bedrooms and a study on the middle level and two more bedrooms on the top level.

Three-bedroom duplex units have large entry foyers that lead to 22-foot-long corner living rooms in one direction and 16-foot-long dining rooms in the other, the latter of which open onto16-foot-wide kitchens next to a 13-foot-long maid’s rooms.
