This handsome, 9-story building at 36 East 22nd Street between Broadway and Park Avenue South in the Flatiron District is known as The Story House and has 8 full-floor condominium apartments. 

It was developed in 2011 by the Manhattan Skyline Management Corporation, whose other buildings including 30 East 85th Street and 205 East 59th Street. 

The architect was the Stephen B. Jacobs Group.

An elegant and slim building of 8 full-floor condominium apartments with gas fireplaces very close to the Flatiron Building and Madison Square Park.

Description

This narrow and attractive building has a very distinctive angled glass and stainless-steel entrance marquee and sidewalk landscaping. 

The lobby has a mosaic accent wall and Pietra Cardosa stone floors.

Amenities

It has a doorman, The Sky’s the Limit Concierge service by Abigail Michaels, a package room, a laundry and it permits pets. 

24-hour attended parking is available next door.

 

Apartments

Ceiling heights range from 9-feet-6-inches to 13 feet.

The building has a key-access elevator and individually controlled air-conditioning. 

Apartments have 5-inch wide Danish Black Oak hardwood floors, gas fireplaces, Bosch washers and dryers, Liebherr stainless-steel refrigerators and wine coolers and Viking 6-burnner cooktops and convection ovens.

Kitchens also have Eggersmann white high gloss lacquer cabinetry, Viscaya Italian frosted and polished glass tile backsplashes and Pietra di Bedonia honed stone slab countertops. 

Bathrooms have Tiger Beige marble slab sink countertops and tub tops and brushed spruce wood vanities with dual undermount ceramic sinks. 

Residence 2 is a two-bedroom unit with a 26-foot-long great room with an open kitchen and a 19-foot-long den. 

History

The building used to house the New York office of Frederick Warne and Company, a British publishing house known for working with children’s book authors such as Beatrix Potter.
