The Story House at 36 East 22nd Street is a nine-story prewar building dating to 1901 that was converted to condominiums in 2011 by Manhattan Skyline Management Corporation. The building, designed by Stephen B. Jacobs Group, has historical significance as the former New York office of Frederick Warne and Company, the British publishing house known for Beatrix Potter's works.
The distinctive structure features an angled glass and stainless-steel entrance marquee, a lobby with mosaic accent walls and Pietra Cardosa stone floors, and sidewalk landscaping. The building contains just eight full-floor residences, each accessed by private keyed elevator.
Residences feature ceiling heights ranging from 9'6" to 13 feet, gas fireplaces, and 5-inch Danish Black Oak hardwood floors. Kitchens are equipped with Eggersmann cabinetry, Viking appliances, and Liebherr refrigerators and wine coolers. Bathrooms feature Tiger Beige marble and brushed spruce wood vanities.
Located in the Flatiron District, the building offers 24-hour virtual doorman service, The Sky's the Limit Concierge service by Abigail Michaels, and a package room. Its position provides easy access to Madison Square Park, Eataly, and the restaurants of Gramercy. Adjacent 24-hour attended parking is available.
