Overview

   About 255 Hudson Street

Construction on this handsome, modern, blue-glass apartment building began in early 2005 by Metropolitan Housing Partners, the developers of a similar new project nearby at 505 Greenwich Street.

The developers' other Manhattan projects include NoLita Place at 199 Bowery, SoHo25 at 25 West Houston Street, and the Sycamore at 250 East 30th Street.

Although Holland Tunnel traffic is formidable, this area become extremely attractive because of the creation of the Hudson River Park nearby and the continued popularity of the TriBeCa neighborhood just to the south.

There is good public transportation in the vicinity as well as numerous other luxury condominium developments.

This sleek, 11-story project was designed by Handel Architects and has 64 apartments, mostly one- and two-bedroom units.

Many of the apartments have 13-by-47-foot living areas with 9-foot-eight-inch ceilings.

Three of the apartments are duplex "townhouses" with 50-foot-deep gardens.

Kitchens feature Sub-Zero refrigerators, Bosch dishwashers, Viking stainless steel ranges, custom anigre cabinetry and gray stone countertops as well as microwave ovens and wine refrigerators.

Master bathrooms have Pietra Bedonia stone floors, cherry cabinets, and extra deep Kohler soaking tubs.

The building, which is at the corner of Dominick Street, has a setback at the 9th floor.

Residents were offered membership in the Classic Car Club Manhattan and its clubhouse.

The lobby has a zinc and frosted glass concierge desk, black leather Barcelona-style chairs sit in front of a window that offers a glimpse of a very small yet serene Japanese garden, and a floor with etched glass inserts.

A rooftop terrace has an outdoor shower, jasmine bushes, Adirondack chairs and nice vistas.
