Downtown Brooklyn steps into the spotlight and tops the list of great NYC neighborhoods. . .

Downtown Brooklyn--a.k.a. DoBro—bested downtown Manhattan’s FiDi (Financial District) as New York City Neighborhood of the Year in Curbed’s 2011 “Curbed Cup.” The (faux) prize is awarded to the best (real) up-and-comer among the city's many evolving neighborhoods.

 

Downtown Brooklyn has been overshadowed in its borough by haughty Brooklyn Heights, family-magnet Park Slope, historic Fort Greene, hip Williamsburg, and the trendy trifecta of BoCoCa, as well as Manhattan’s towering metropolis.
