The pre-war building has gargoyles, a two-story, rusticated limestone base, high ceilings, black railings with spikes, a two-step-up entrance with canopy, a two-step-up lobby, basement storage, protruding air-conditioners and a part-time doorman. It has no sidewalk landscaping, no garage, no roof deck and no health club. It is across the street from the Abraham Joshua Herschel School.

The neighborhood is one of the city’s finest architecturally with many superb pre-World War II apartment buildings and some well-designed late 20th Century apartment houses as well. The lively area has many restaurants and stores. There is a subway station at 86th Street where there is also excellent cross-town bus service.
