305 West 72nd Street: Review and Ratings

between West End Avenue & Riverside Drive View Full Building Profile

Review of 305 West 72nd Street by Carter Horsley

This very handsome building was erected in 1913 and converted to a cooperative in 1983. The 13-story building has 51 apartments.

It has a particularly vigorous Italian Renaissance-palazzo-style façade with Venetian accents. Its fenestration pattern consists of bays of three tall windows that give the façade considerable rhythm that is punctuated by strong bandcourses and arched windows on the top floor.

The doorman building is very close to Riverside Park and to an express subway station at Broadway. This neighborhood has good shopping and is not far from the bustling Lincoln Center district to the south.

The area should continue to improve because of mammoth residential development at Riverside South, a Donald Trump project, nearby along Riverside Drive, and the huge mixed-use redevelopment of the New York Coliseum site at Columbus Circle to the south.
