1004 Gates Avenue is a seven story rental building completed in 2017 by the Loketch Group and designed by Ellipses Design. Its white mid block façade is organized around a six story bright red open rectangle with thin black edging, set above a two story gray base and flanked by broad balconies.
The project expanded two older tenement buildings and incorporated transferred air rights from 839 Monroe Street to increase its residential space. It contains 27 apartments, with four residences on each floor except the seventh, which has three.
