Carter's Review
This attractive 16-story building was erected in 1927 and converted to a cooperative in 1982.
The mid-block apartment house has 63 apartments.
The building has a red-brick façade with handsome balconies at the third story and an attractive broken-pediment surround around its entrance to its nice lobby. The building, which has a doorman and sidewalk landscaping, has no garage, inconsistent fenestration and permits protruding air-conditioners.
The building has three professional offices with their own entrances with small stoops on the street.
It is half a block from an express subway station at Lexington Avenue and there is excellent crosstown bus service. Although 86th Street has busy retail activity to the east, it has quite sedate to the west in this desirable area that has many private schools, religious institutions and major museums. The building is just to the west of a bank and a movie theater.
