Carter Horsley's Building Review Carter Horsley
Dec 23, 2011
52 CITYREALTY RATING

Carter's Review

This attractive, beige-brick, 10-story building was erected in 1926 and is a cooperative with 38 apartments.

The mid-block building has a prime Carnegie Hill neighborhood location that is close to several private schools and important cultural institutions and has convenient local shopping and restaurants. It is across from the very tall luxury apartment tower at 45 East 89th Street and it is just to the east of the extremely handsome Beaux Arts-style apartment building on the northeast corner at 1261 Madison Avenue.

The building has a one-step-up, canopied entrance, a concierge, consistent fenestration, masonry quoins, sidewalk landscaping and protruding air-conditioners. It has no garage, no balconies and no health club.

There is good cross-town bus service on 86th Street and a subway station at 86th Street and Lexington Avenue. Central Park is a block-and-a-half away.

One United Nations Park is an unprecedented interplay of privacy and light—a balance that reflects the architecture’s bold exterior and luminous interiors.
