The Parkview is a 19 story, 110 unit rental completed in 1994 in Carnegie Hill. It was nearing completion as a 31 story tower when a zoning dispute led the city to require removal of its top 12 floors, earning it the nickname the “too tall” building.
The resulting red brick building has a one story limestone base, and an east wing was added to accommodate units displaced by the removed floors. Apartments commonly have double pane windows, and many extend to private balconies.
The building has a 24 hour doorman, fitness center, children’s playroom, rooftop terrace, resident storage, central laundry and live-in superintendent. Pets are allowed, and the East 96th Street location is just east of Park Avenue, with Central Park to the west.
