Carter's Review

This very handsome, 15-story building at 10 West 86th Street is very close to Central Park and was designed by George F. Pelham, whose other buildings include 944, 1120 and 1160 Park Avenue, 1136 Fifth Avenue, 98 Riverside Drive and 30 Beekman Place.

It was erected in 1925 and was 28 co-operative units.

Bottom Line

A distinguished, mid-rise, pre-war building by George F. Pelham a few feet west of Central Park West with excellent public transportation.

Description

The brown-brick building has a 1-story limestone base with a canopied entrance but no sidewalk landscaping.

There are pairs of decorative window surrounds on the second floor and two-story window surrounds with pediments on the 4th and 5th floors and the top two floors.

There is a centered balustraded balcony on the 10th floor and a nice cornice.

The building has brick quoins above the first floor.

Amenities

The building has a full-time doorman, a live-in superintendent, a bicycle room and permits cats.
