This attractive, broad, 12-story rental apartment building at 181 Front Street between Jay and Bridge Streets in the Dumbo section of Brooklyn was developed in 2017 by Megalith Capital Management and Urban Realty Partners.

A Jehovah’s Witnesses warehouse on the site was replaced by this building that has 105 rental apartments of which 21 are "affordable."

It was designed by Aufgang Architects and has ground-floor retail.  The Gil Even-Tsur Architecture Workshop is the interior designer.

The new building is part of the redevelopment and conversion of a landmarked to 15 condo apartments on the other side of the block at 200 Water Street, a former Brillo Manufacturing Co. building that belonged to the Jehovah’s Witnesses until 2013.

181 Front Street is located one block from the subway and moments from the water taxi, Brooklyn Bridge Park, and Empire Stores.

Bottom Line

This attractive, mid-rise, red-brick, apartment building is convenient to the subway, a water taxi and Brooklyn Bridge Park.

Description

The red-brick building has a setback above its 8th floor at one end of the building and it is faced with grey metal panels as is a central vertical section above the entrance  and another setback section above the 6th floor at the other end of the building.

The building is distinguished by a nicely crenellated roofline on front of its setbacks.

The building has handsome multi-pane fenestration and an entrance marquee.

Amenities

The building has a fitness center, a playroom, a 24-hour doorman, a roof deck , bicycle storage, a laundry and a 48-car garage.

Apartments

Apartments have oak flooring, washers and dryers and Caesarstone countertops in the kitchen and KitchenAid stainless steel appliance package.

Apartment 6C is a three-bedroom unit with an entry foyer next to an open kitchen with a breakfast bar and a living/dining room.

Apartment 6L is a corner two-bedroom unit with a large living/dining room with an open kitchen and a laundry room.

Apartment 6M is a one-bedroom unit with an entry into a dining room with an open kitchen with an island and a breakfast bar and a living room.  It also has a large laundry room.

Apartment 6E is a one-bedroom unit with an open kitchen with a breakfast bar and a living/dining room.
