Overview of East Village Condos at 180 Second Avenue

Anticipated to be completed in 2024, 180 Second Avenue is a new mid-block residential development in the heart of the East Village, comprising four two-bedroom units and two one-bedroom residences. Each dwelling boasts an individual private terrace, offering vistas across the low-rise neighborhood. The apartments are organized within two distinct wooden structures that accommodate closets, bathrooms, and mechanical facilities, thereby fostering an airy, loft-like ambiance in the remaining living space.

The design by Ole Sondresen is distinguished by its commitment to sustainability and seeks to  attain LEED Platinum and Passive House certifications. This eco-conscious approach is exemplified by the incorporation of a green roof alongside solar hot water panels for every residential unit. Adorned with reclaimed wood planters, each terrace becomes a vibrant canvas for lush vegetation, enhancing the building's façade. The concrete framework retains its exposed joints and formwork imprints, creating a visual interplay between textured concrete surfaces and refined wood and glass elements. The building's aesthetic harmony is achieved through the authentic application of materials and the uncompromising clarity of its design.
