Developed by Pomegranate Realty and designed by Mitch Newman, the addition places two transitional stories above the original façade, followed by a slightly torqued 12 story setback tower with balconies.
The building abuts the former New York Chamber of Commerce Building at 55 Liberty Street, a 1902 Beaux Arts landmark designed by James B. Baker. Across Liberty Street, 140 Broadway’s plaza contains Isamu Noguchi’s large red cube sculpture, giving this narrow block an unusually concentrated architectural setting.
The residences are largely organized as full floor and floor through lofts, and many open to balconies or terraces. Wide oak floors, oversized windows, open kitchens with stone counters, in-unit laundry, and marble or travertine baths recur in the interiors.
