Overview of 420 Carroll Street

420 Carroll comprises a 21-story tower and a 16-story tower connected by an underground tunnel that allows residents to access amenities in both buildings. All apartment interiors feature airy floor plans, abundant natural light, modern finishes, custom kitchens, and in-unit Bosch washer and dryers.

420 Carroll was the first new project to be developed under the 2021 Gowanus rezoning, and it included a new public promenade along the canal. Private residential amenities include an attended lobby, cold storage, bike storage, a lounge, a fitness center, a children's playroom, a dining room with demonstration kitchen, landscaped terraces, and a rooftop sun terrace. 

420 Carroll's retail space is home to art studio Hey Clay and grocery store Gowanus Marketplace. It is located near Royal Palms Shuffleboard Club, popular Union Street dining, Whole Foods, and the Union Street R train.

Domain Companies secures $205M refinancing for Gowanus rental

In July 2025, The Domain Companies announced that it had closed on a $205 million refinancing for 420 Carroll. The mixed-use, mixed-income rental was the first project completed under the 2021 Gowanus rezoning, and move-ins started earlier this year. The property includes the forthcoming Hey Clay pottery studio and Gowanus Marketplace grocery store, and the two towers are connected by a tunnel that allows residents to access amenities in both buildings.
