355 East 19th Street: Review and Ratings

between Second Avenue & First Avenue View Full Building Profile

Carter Horsley
Review of 355 East 19th Street by Carter Horsley

This handsome, 7-story, mid-block, residential condominium building at 322 East 19th Street between Second and First avenues was erected in 2015 and has 7 full-floor apartments.

It was built by Yosi Cohen designed by Brent M. Porter Architects.

Kasia Zareba and Patricia Uruiola were responsible for the interiors.

The building is on the former site of the Christ Lutheran Church.

Bottom Line

This “heavy-breathing” building has the air of a mighty bulldog with its 5 very broad and deeply inset “bunker” picture windows and very handsome, beige Kolumba brick façade from Denmark presenting a very chiseled and precise visage with its very thin, projecting window surrounds.

Description

The front façade has two piers of almost square, 2-pane windows on its west wide and the very broad inset windows and terraces on the east.  The very handsome inset terraces have low, glass railings.

The ground floor has three large vertical windows with thin window surrounds and a similarly configured entrance.

The eastern half of the top floor has an angled setback.

Amenities

The building has a roof deck and a virtual doorman.

Apartments

Apartments have 7-inch-wide European oak flooring.

The townhouse unit has 2,663 square feet of interior space and 1,520 square feet of external space with kitchens on both of its duplex levels and three bedrooms on the upper level.

The three-bedroom penthouse duplex has 1,951 square feet of interior space and 781 square feet of external space.   The 21-foot-wide living room with an open kitchen has a diagonal wall that opens onto a large terrace.

Apartment 2 has 2,008 square feet with a 162-square foot terrace and an entry foyer that leads to a 20-foot-wide open kitchen/dining area next to the 19-footwide living room.  The unit has three bedrooms.

Apartment 3 also has 2,008 square feet but four bedrooms and a 18-foot-wide living room with a open kitchen.
