The Landmarks Preservation Commission has approved a revised application to demolish the former Polonaisse Terrace banquet hall at 144 Greenpoint Avenue and construct a new, seven-story residential building on the site. The red brick facade has stayed the same from a rejected proposal in December 2025, but the fenestration and massing have been adjusted, and a green roof has been added. The building is to contain 55 residential units, 20% of which will be affordable.
In May 2025, Double U Development filed permits with the Department of Buildings to convert longtime Greenpoint event venue Polonaise Terrace to a mixed-use building with retail on the ground floor and 35 residential units on top. The Landmarks Preservation Commission signed off on an office/retail conversion of the building in 2023, and must approve this new plan. The most recent permits call for a vertical enlargement and no demolition of the existing structure.
