This 15-story apartment building at 160 First Street between Marin Boulevard and Provost Street in Jersey City has 159 condominium apartments and was erected in 2016 by The Schuster Group of which Eyal Schuster is the chief executive officer.

It was designed by Fogarty Finger.

It is named the Oakman after John Oakman who designed the 1907 H & M Powerhouse that opened rail access to Manhattan and is the center of the Powerhouse Arts District.

It is three blocks from the Grove Street PATH station.

Bottom Line

A handsome, large slab condominium apartment building in Jersey City with many amenities, crisp detailing and multi-pane fenestration.

Description

The building has a skylit entrance canopy in wood and blackened steel, a 22-foot-tall lobby with walnut cladding and concrete wall panels with blackened steel accents.

The building is framed in thin white panels that also divide the façade into two-story segments.  It has large multi-paned windows separated by handsome grey bricks laid in rusticated fashion.

The building has an outdoor rooftop swimming pool, a rooftop entertainment rooms with fireplace and lounge with a kitchen, a residents’ lounge, a library and business center, a skylit children’s playroom, a fitness center, complimentary coffee and tea stand, a 24-hour concierge, on-site parking and electric vehicle charging stations, bicycle storage, a laundry, cold storage, an art gallery on every floor, and entrance marquee, and it is pet-friendly.

Apartments have 9-foot-high ceilings, homeowner control of heat and air-conditioning in each room, washer and dryer hookups, wide plank brushed white oak floors, Italian Pedini kitchen cabinetry and kitchen appliances from Bosch, Miele, and Bertrazzoni.
