Leroy Schecter, chairman of Marino/WARE Industries, a manufacturer of steel construction materials, has put two adjacent apartments at 15 Central Park West for the market for $55 million, according to an article yesterday at nytimes.com by Vivian S. Toy.

"Mr. Schecter had initially planned to combine the apartments for himself, but then decided he would rather live in his 25,000-square-foot house in Indian Creek, Fla., than brave New York City winters," the article reported, adding that he then rented the two-bedroom apartment to Alex Rodriguez of the New York Yankees and the adjacent three-bedroom unit to Henry Silverman, who founded the Cendant Corporation, for $40,000 a month.

Although both Mr. Rodriquez and Mr. Silverman just renewed their leases for another year, the article continued, "Their spaces could be rehabbed to become the most expensive apartment in New York City."

The article said that Mr. Schecter will sell the apartments "only as a pair" and that his broker, Emily Beare, an executive vice president of Core Group Marketing, said Mr. Schecter "would be happy to show potential buyers architectural plans already approved by the building for combining the apartments."

Mr. Schecter had bought the three-bedroom unit in 2008 for about $18 million and the same year he also bought the two-bedroom for about $8.5 million.
