DOWNSIZED: New Renderings of Hello Nostrand Show a More Grounded Approach

Revised rendering of Hallo Nostrand via Hello Living website Revised rendering of Hallo Nostrand via Hello Living website
Previously conceived as one of the tallest buildings in southern Brooklyn, Hello Nostrand at 1580 Nostrand Avenue appears to have been scaled down into a more contextual development. New renderings published on Eli Karp’s Hello Living website show that the once 23-story project has been reconfigured to sprawl across its near-full block site bounded by Nostrand Avenue, Albemarle Road, East 29th Street, and Tilden Avenue.
Previous plans drawn up by Loadingdock5 showed a unique cascading tower of more than 250 feet in height that would have been the tallest building in Flatbush. Most of the bulk would have been pushed toward Nostrand Avenue and a rear yard and a 2-floor community facility would face East 29th St. The new images show the project will more evenly cover its lot, and a landscaped courtyard will be at its center. Filings at the city’s Department of Buildings have yet to be revised to reflect this new design.

Hello Living’s page says there will be 209 rental units inside, an increase from 153 units. Like many “Hello” developments sprinkled throughout the borough, Hello Nostrand will have floor-through apartments with large terraces in the front and back. Updated interior renderings show sleek finishes in black and white tones with wood accents. The project is equidistant to the 2 and 5 train’s Church Avenue and Beverly Road subway stations. The Kings Theater and Prospect Park are the shops along Flatbush Ave. are also within walking distance. The page says the project will be complete later this year, but as far we can tell from permits, construction has yet to resume.
