As construction nears completion at Extell’s 500 and 524 East 14th Street, the East Village’s first "flexible format" Target is set for an opening date in July 2018. It will comprise 9,649 square feet on the ground floor and 17,705 square feet in the cellar. The popular retailer will stock everything a city resident could need or want and offer residents and neighbors the convenience of just going downstairs for essentials. Target will open in a complex of two seven-story buildings designed by Beyer Blinder Belle. Amenities will include a rooftop deck, fitness center, lounge, pool, steam room, playroom, and storage. The project is receiving a green zone credit and targeting LEED Gold certification.
