The top sale was a massive three-bedroom at The Cortland with three bedrooms, three and a half baths, and a massive private terrace. It closed for $17,863,125, or just over the last listing price of $17,500,000. It was trailed closely by #12W at 109 East 79th Street, which sold for $17,304,963. Two stories up, another unit in the building closed for $12,963,525.

The top co-op sale and fifth-highest overall took place at the Emery Roth-designed 15 West 81st Street, where #12AB closed for $10,500,000. Public records list the seller as acclaimed journalist/author/film producer Clara Bingham. The buyers are Charles Bendit, co-CEO of Taconic Investment Properties, and his wife, Karyn Bendit.
