Before the coronavirus pandemic, NoMad had begun to establish itself as Midtown South’s center for trendy hotels. Now, as New York begins to welcome international tourists back, NoMad’s “hotel row” hopes to resume its momentum. The NoMad, one of the hip hotels that put its eponymous neighborhood on the map, is being refurbished in preparation for a reopening as The Ned, a Soho House-operated hotel and members club that will honor the building’s original architectural features. Following a leasehold purchase, the Martinique Hotel has been rescued from bankruptcy and will reopen in stages starting as early as December 2021. 250 Fifth Avenue was built by McKim, Mead & White in 1908 as a bank building, but is being refurbished and converted into The Fifth Avenue Hotel with Flâneur Hospitality at the helm.

However, it is not only transformed buildings behind NoMad's hospitality renaissance. Virgin Hotels New York, the brand's first in the city, is winding down work on the corner of Broadway and 29th Street, and expected to open in summer 2022. Down the block at 25 West 28th Street, The Ritz-Carlton, New York, NoMad is expected to open in early 2022, offering 250 hotel rooms and 16 branded penthouse residences.

The 16 one- and two-bedroom penthouses are situated above the hotel floors, the better to make the most of panoramic views of the Downtown and Midtown skylines through oversized picture windows with mullion-free frames. All homes have high ceilings, white oak floors, and custom millwork throughout. Poliform kitchens feature honed white Quartzite islands, countertops, and backsplash, Bronzed glass cabinetry, and top-of-the-line Miele appliance packages. Lavish primary baths feature Bardiglio Nuvolato marble floors and walls, Duravit soaking tubs, and separate rain shower.

Current availabilities start at $3.55 million for one-bedrooms and $6.6 million for two-bedrooms. Owners may occupy the penthouses for up to 120 nights per year (up to 29 days in any 36-day period) and have their apartments managed by The Ritz-Carlton when not in use.
