A modest new residential addition may be coming to Astoria's soon-to-be-transformed waterfront. While no permits have yet to be filed, developers AKI Development with designers Weston Baker Creative Group have drawn up a 7-story, 30-35 unit rental building at 26-12 4th Street. The building would replace a one-story warehouse building and will be roughly 32,000 gross square feet in size. The site is located between 26th and 27th avenues and is wedged within the industrial hinterlands between the master plans of Astoria Cove by Alma Realty and Durst's Hallet's Point.

Weston Baker Creative Group has published a handful of renderings depicting what they call a "minimal and elegant" apartment building influenced by the industrial history of the waterfront neighborhood. The designers aim to integrate the building within the mixed-use neighborhood, specifying a straitlaced exterior of evenly distributed industrial-sash windows. The building will feature a modern and spacious lobby which will use both dark metal materials and light marbles and its penthouse apartment on the seventh floor will include a 1,400 square foot terrace with views of Manhattan and the East River (for now).
