This attractive, 28-story, mid-block building at 350 West 37th Street was erected in 2010 by Lalezarian Properties and has 206 rental apartments including 41 “affordable” units.

The building is called Townsend and was designed by Avinash Malhotra.

The building is between 8th and 9th Avenues and is not far from the Hudson Yards development, the Garment Center and Penn Station.

Bottom Line

A handsome, mid-block rental apartment tower with many corner windows and many amenities in the Garment Center not far from Penn Station.

Description

The building has a two-story, rusticated limestone base with a broad, glass-and-metal entrance marquee beneath three 8-story-high, setback bays that are projected forward from the rear tower that has four projected bays whose spacing alternates with the lower bays to give the relatively massive building a rather lively dynamic.

Amenities

The building has a landscaped roof deck, a 24-hour concierge, a doorman, a gym, a bicycle room, a gaming room, a garage, a package room, a cinema room, a live-in superintendent, and a 20-foot-high waterfall in its lobby.  Pets are allowed.

Apartments

There are washers and dryers in the one- and two-bedroom units.  All rooms have oak plank flooring, floor-to-ceiling windows and an I-Pod docking station with speakers and volume control.  Open kitchens have white Caesarstone countertops, Viscaya snow glass backsplashes, Frigidaire ice-maker refrigerators, GE ranges and dishwashers.

Apartment E on floors 14 through 28 and the penthouse is a two-bedroom unit with an entry next to a pass-through kitchen and an 18-foot-long living room.

Apartment 12D is a two-bedroom unit with an entry next to a pass-through kitchen and a 16-foot-long living room that opens onto an 87-square-foot west terrace and a 63-square-foot east terrace.

Apartment H on floors 24 through 28 and the penthouse is a two-bedroom unit with an entry across from an open kitchen and a 17-foot-long living room.

Apartment B on floors 12 through 28 is a one-bedroom unit with an entry foyer that leads to an open, windowed kitchen and a 17-foot-long living room with a corner window.

Apartment 4F is a one-bedroom unit with an entry next to an open, pass-through kitchen and a 21-foot-long living room with a 215-square-foot terrace.

Apartment G on floors 5 through 11 is a studio unit with a 19-foot-long living room and an pass-through kitchen.
