This 12-story residential condominium building in Park Slope, Brooklyn, features neo-modernist architecture blending hip and historic elements. The building, named The Crest, has a standard rectilinear base with the top four stories curving outward, resembling a flower or bird's nest.
The Crest is a 12 story, 68 unit Park Slope condominium completed in 2007, with upper floors that curve outward above a rectilinear base. Its rusticated stone base and orange brick middle section rise to a crown of curved balconies. Lin & Associates Architects P.C. designed the building for developers Shaya Boymelgreen and Isaac Katan, with a lobby by Andres Escobar.
Floor-to-ceiling windows and open living plans recur in the apartments, along with central air and in-unit laundry. Private outdoor space is a prominent part of the design, chiefly in the form of Juliet balconies, while larger balconies, corner exposures and upper floor views extend toward Lower Manhattan and Downtown Brooklyn.
The building has a concierge, full time superintendent and porter, package room, video intercom and garage with valet parking. A fitness center and furnished planted patio form the principal shared spaces. The 421a tax abatement is scheduled through 2034.
The Crest is at 302 2nd Street on the corner of Fourth Avenue, one block west of Fifth Avenue and a block from Washington Park and the Old Stone House. Prospect Park is about five blocks east, and Whole Foods is roughly two blocks west. The R train stops at Union Street on Fourth Avenue.
