365 West End Avenue is a 15 story, 110 apartment pre-war rental completed in 1925 at the corner of West 77th Street. Designed by Sugarman, Hess & Berger, the beige brick building rises from a two story stone base and has shallow arches along its cornice line, broad horizontal bandcourses, and pilasters across the upper floors.
The building and its lobby were used during the 1988 filming of Sea of Love, starring Al Pacino and Ellen Barkin. During the shoot, Pacino briefly took the doorman’s post and held the lobby door for residents. Samantha Bee, the comedian and former host of Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, has also been associated with the address.
Apartments commonly retain high ceilings and hardwood floors, while windowed kitchens recur in both studios and larger homes. The range extends from studios with separate kitchens to expansive eight room layouts with formal dining rooms and flexible library or office space. West facing rooms in multiple apartment lines look toward the Hudson River and sunsets, while southern exposures overlook the historic townhouses along West End Avenue.
The building has a 24 hour doorman, concierge, live-in superintendent, central laundry room, and bike storage. Riverside Park is one block west, Broadway is one block east, and the American Museum of Natural History is several blocks away. The 1 train stops at the 79th Street station on Broadway.
