Carter's Review

This 7-story residential condominium at 70 Berry Street at North 10th Street is known as the Allan Building and is distinguished by its large, inset windows and reddish-brown masonry piers.

It was designed by Armand S. Quadrini of KSQ Architects PC of White Plains, N.Y., for EssexBerrySt LLC/EssexBrooklynLLC of which Mitchell B. Rutter is a principal.

Construction began in 2008 on the former site of the Allan Zipper Company and the project was reported to have been sold out in April, 2010.

Located just a block away from Bedford Avenue, it is three blocks to the west of the East River State Park and two blocks south of McCarren Park.

The 38-unit building has on-site parking, a video intercom system, central air-conditioning, washer/dryer hookups, a residents' lounge and a roof deck

Bathrooms have double sinks with quartz countertops, radiant-heated floors, oversized gray tile walls and floors and rainshower fixtures.

Kitchens have Bosch and Liebherr appliances, oak cabinetry and Caesarstone countertops.

Apartments have hand-scraped, wide-plank oak floors and high ceilings and apartments on the top floor have slanted skylights.
