Asten House, 515 East 79th Street: Review and Ratings

between York Avenue & East End Avenue View Full Building Profile

Carter Horsley
Review of 515 East 79th Street by Carter Horsley

This very attractive, white-brick apartment building on one of the nicest blocks on this major cross-street was erected in 1982 as a cooperative. The 30-story building has 163 apartments.

The midblock building has some bay windows, a doorman, a garage and sidewalk landscaping. It also has balconies, consistent fenestration and discrete air-conditioners.

This location is very desirable for families because it is only a block away from Carl Schurz Park to the east and excellent private schools are nearby. Crosstown bus service is excellent and the York Avenue buses cross midtown at 57th Street. Subways, however, are not nearby.
