About The Gaylord, 251 East 51st Street
This attractive, 21-story, red-brick apartment building on the northeast corner at Second Avenue was erected in 1959 and converted to a cooperative in 1980.
With a central east Midtown location, the 190-unit building is a short walk to the many major office buildings on Third Avenue and not too far from the Beekman Place neighborhood and the United Nations Park. The building is well-proportioned with several setbacks and terraces at its top.
Although there is considerable traffic on Second Avenue, this area is full of pleasant surprises such as the famous Turtle Bay residential enclave a couple of blocks to the south and many interesting restaurants.
There is good cross-town bus service on 50th Street and there are subway stations at 53rd and Third and 50th and Lexington Avenues.
