Carter's Review

An affiliate of the Starrett Corporation converted the Axton rental apartment building at 175 West 95th Street to a condominium in 2015.

The 28-story tower was erected as part of the Mitchell-Lama program that provided affordable housing to moderate- and middle-income families in 1971.  It is also known as 176 West 96th Street and 725 Amsterdam Avenue.

It has 229 residential condominium units and three commercial condominiums.

Bottom Line

A slab tower on Amsterdam Avenue distinguished by its pleasant ground-floor spaces and it many not-fully-walled balconies that add considerable texture.

Description

The beige-brick tower has many white balconies and extends from 95th to 96th Streets on Amsterdam Avenue.

The building has an attractive glass entrance marquee and sidewalk landscaping.  It has discrete air-conditioners.
