Harsen House is a 16 story, 17 residence condominium on West 72nd Street, completed in 2007 as a LEED certified project designed by BKSK Architects. Its street façade divides into light beige masonry and clear glass, with projecting bay windows, a two story limestone base, and quartzite accents around the entrance. Anbau Enterprises developed the building after the Landmarks Preservation Commission unanimously approved the plans.
Interiors by Andres Escobar emphasize loftlike proportions, with nearly 10 foot ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, gas fireplaces, and in-unit laundry. The upper floors include full floor residences measuring more than 3,100 square feet, while other levels are limited to two homes per landing. Several full floor homes have private terraces, and a garden residence opens to a 1,400 square foot landscaped garden.
A 24 hour doorman and concierge staff the attended lobby, joined by a fitness center, children’s playroom, bike room, private storage, and live-in superintendent. The building is between Columbus and Amsterdam Avenues, one block west of Central Park and several blocks east of Riverside Park. The 72nd Street station at Broadway serves the 1, 2, and 3 trains.
