153 Remsen Street is a 19 story rental building in Brooklyn Heights, completed in 2017 with 60 apartments. Developed by Quinlan Development Group and Lonicera Partners and designed by Navid Maqami of S9 Architecture, it uses red brick, limestone, granite, inset multipane windows, and dark metal spandrels to frame a contemporary interpretation of the neighborhood’s traditional architecture. Its asymmetrical entrance is echoed in the setbacks at the top of the building.
With two to four homes per floor, the building has a relatively intimate residential arrangement for its height. Apartments have generous layouts, substantial closet space, and open kitchens, while many include private terraces or balconies. The apartment mix includes spacious one bedroom layouts with home offices as well as two and three bedroom homes, and multiple residences have city or New York Harbor views.
The amenity program includes an attended lobby, full time doorman, central AC, fitness center, laundry room, bike room, and rooftop terrace. The roof has landscaped areas, dining and lounge furniture, barbecue grills, a children’s play area, and views toward New York Harbor and the Manhattan skyline. The children’s playroom was designed by Carmelo the Science Fellow and includes a feature wall with connective gears and light pegs, along with foam blocks and stacking toys.
At 153 Remsen Street between Court and Clinton streets, the building occupies a mid-block position in Brooklyn Heights. Pets are allowed, and select apartments have outdoor space that extends the interior layouts beyond the façade.
