Review of 351 West 14th Street by Carter Horsley

This very handsome, 4-story building at 351 West 14th Street on an angled section of Ninth Avenue commands a major intersection in Chelsea.

It was erected in 1885 and has 69 rental apartments.

It is just to the south of the Old Homestead steakhouse and the fine residential building on the southeast corner at 15th Street that is known as The Porter House and was designed by SHoP Architects and it is diagonally across the avenue from the great Chelsea Market that contains a marvelous through-building arcade of attractive restaurants and shops.

This building has retail space on its ground floor and an attractive, thin, modern cornice above its third floor.  The top floors has two dormer windows and four units with angled rooflines and multiple windows.

It also convenient to good public transportation and is close to the Standard Hotel, the Whitney Museum of American Art and the High Line.

A 19th Century low-rise white building at the prime location in Chelsea near the fabled Chelsea Market, the High Line and the Whitney Museum of Art.
