Carter's Review
This handsome, 8-story, mid-block building at 24 West 22nd Street between Broadway and Park Avenue South is very near Madison Square Park was erected in 1905 and has only 6 condominium apartments and three-floors of commercial space.
The building is convenient to public transit and many restaurants and boutiques such as Eataly and Lego and only half a block from the famous Flatiron Building.
Bottom Line
One of the more attractive blocks around Madison Square Park, this very distinctive, red-brick building is across the street from the very good-looking bases of two very prominent high-rise apartment towers on West 23rd Street.
Description
The building has a very dramatic base that is mostly white with some sharply angled windows, all enclosed in a decorative limestone frame.
The third story has a center pediment lintel and floors 4 through 6 have flared lintels over multi-paned windows. The 7th floor has single-pane windows.
The 8th floor has inset windows between limestone piers behind a cast-iron balcony.
The building has a large, protruding cornice.

The apartments have 14-foot-high ceilings ribbed with vaults.
